Even though having buzzers is nice, it is not necessary.
3-second rule: Buzz in three seconds before you know the answer. Since you have to
wait to be called on, and then still have 3 seconds to give your answer, you don't
have to have the problem completed, just know that you can in the next three seconds.
Learn to skim the question looking for detail, and especially, what the question
is asking for
Practice with everybody on your team, not just head-to-head competition.
Practice by giving student five or so questions to solve in twenty to thirty seconds
Have the person who answered correctly explain how they solved it so quickly
Tell students to "tune out" the reader. They can read it far faster!
